ANDROID FAQ

They will be almost identical in functionality, and they will share the same TCM database.

Android has a size restriction on the .apk (the application) file. TCM Clinic Aid includes over 2900 resources for points and herbs. Because the size of these resources greatly exceeds the size restriction of the .apk file, they must be downloaded to your SD Card when you run TCM Clinic Aid for the first time. The download will start automatically. All you have to do is let it complete the download and installation.

To restore system images to your device, please to the following:

  1. Start TCM Clinic Aid.
  2. Select Settings
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the screen.
  4. Click on Restore System Images.
  5. You will be asked if you want to continue and the app will restart. Select Yes.
  6. When TCM Clinic Aid starts you will see a screen indicating the resources are being copied.
  7. When this is completed TCM Clinic Aid will restart and the images SHOULD be available.

I try to answer all emails within 12 hours after receving them (and I generally do within hours). There have been a number of cases where I sent an email response that bounced back. Problem was that the user had mistyped the email address.

I believe in prompt technical support. So, if you haven’t received an email in 12 – 24 hrs after sending one, check to make sure it didn’t get intercepted by the spam filter on your email account. And make sure you type in your email address correctly.

As long as you download from Google Play using the same User ID and password, there should be no problems re-downloading TCM Clinic Aid.

Click here to go to Google Play for more information on re-downloading paid apps.

This feature will be available in release 1.0.14.

To move TCM Clinic Aid from internal storage you will need to go to your phone/device settings.
Settings->Applications->Manage Application->TCM Clinic Aid or TCM Clinic Aid Trial. If the Force stop button is highlighted, press on it, and make sure it goes gray. Then press on the button Move to SD card. This will only work if the Move to SD card button is highlighted.

It’s a good idea to remove the Trial version. To delete the Trial version, select your phones Menu->Settings->Applications->Manage Application->TCM Clinic Aid Trial. If the Force stop button is highlighted, press on it, and make sure it goes gray. Then press on the button Uninstall. This will only work if the Uninstall button is highlighted.

Generally, the answer is Yes. It’s always a good idea to run the trial version first to make sure your device functions properly with TCM Clinic Aid. With all the new devices coming on the market, it is virtually impossible to validate TCM Clinic Aid on each device.

If you do encounter problems, please lets us know what device you are using and the version of the Android operating system running on your device.

This is a search configuration setting that you need to change:

      1. Start up TCM Clinic Aid
      2. Select the Tool icon at the lower left corner
      3. Scroll down to “Search using these tables ….” and go a little further until you see Points.
      4. Click on the blue icon to the right of the Points entry
      5. Scroll down to the bottom to the entry Pinyin (i.e., He Gu)
      6. Click on this entry to select it (you are telling the search routine to also look at the pinyin name, without tonemarks).
      7. back out of these screens to the main page and do a search on the point name. Remember I separate the name components, He Gu, not HeGu. Also with He Gu, put quotes ‘He Gu’ or “He Gu” around the name.

The way to prevent directories of images from being included in the Gallery is to place a file called ‘.nomedia’ in that directory. In the case of TCM Clinic Aid, the directory with all the herb/point images are on the SDCARD in a directory called ‘tcmclinicaid’. You will want to put ‘.nomedia’ in the ‘tcmclinicaid’ directory.

To make this process easy, there is a free App called StudioKUMA .nomedia Manager that will place the ‘.nomedia’ file in the directories you choose.

The following steps may be necessary on Android 3.x and higher OS versions:

  1. Exit TCM Clinic Aid.
  2. On your device: Go to Settings→Applications→Gallery.
  3. Clear cache, clear data, force close.
  4. Go to Settings→Applications→Media Storage.
  5. Clear cache, clear data, force close.
  6. Hard reset (cold boot) your device. This will not delete any images.
  7. Next time you open Gallery it may not contain anything, but give it a minute while the system is still scanning the device and you will find that only the folders you want to be visible, are visible.
